SAARC Minutes – Saturday, May 23, 2026, 10:00 am

Call to order by Cory CYT at 10:04 am, seconded by Dave DRL.

Reading of the minutes of April 25, 2026, by Peter.

  • No errors or omissions.
  • Motion to approve minutes by Tyler, seconded by Bill. All in favour.

Treasurer’s Report by Dave.

  • Motion to approve treasurer’s report by Walter, seconded by Ron. All in favour.

Events Report by Renze (via text).

  • Corn Roast will be Aug. 22.
  • Christmas supper will be December 19 at Mings Chinese Cafe in Coaldale, 4 – 6 pm.

FIELD DAY

  • if anyone would like to help with the purchase of the food for field day, please give the funds to Dave.

Repeater Committee Report by Cory.

  • all hardware is ordered. When it arrives, Dave Siggelkow will build mounts and set a day to install.
  • Wayne will be retiring as CAM net controller soon. Tony VE6ABO will be taking over.

 

OLD BUSINESS

1) Antenna project update from Barry

  • We are on our way. Dave Siggelkow dropped in and picked up the cheque and we discussed it all. Barry has no issues with what is proposing for tower mounts and the rest of the work. Dave will be mounting the antenna approx. one foot off the tower face with three mounts down the tower face (10ft). He will be getting the stuff on order and expects about a month for delivery. He will let us know when he has the stuff and will give Barry a call when he is ready to install as he needs a calm day. Barry will give the landowner a heads up when we have a date.

2) The joint LSCO/SAARC flea Market May 30.

  • tables $10, entry $5 which includes door prize ticket. Setup at 9, out by 1 pm.
  • Larry will be organizing the tables.

3) Wind Turbine

4) Basic License Training

  • no update

 

NEW BUSINESS

1) Condolences to Don VA6FH whose wife Sandy passed away recently.

 

No meeting in June due to Field Day on June.27 – 28.

Next meeting will be September 26, 2026.

 

Motion to close the meeting by Jim at 10:32 am.

 

Cory CYT presented on digital modes.

Kalvin presented on how to measure common mode current attenuation using a NanoVNA.
